Beginner Youth Sewing Workshop

Date:  Thursday, May 28th.  Time:  5:30-7:00 pm.   Location:  Alyssum Patch Quilt Shop.  213 E. Grand River Ave.  Howell, MI. 48843.

This class is perfect for true beginners! Students will learn the basics of the sewing machine, including how it works, how to thread it, wind and insert a bobbin, and sew safely. We’ll start by practicing on paper to build confidence, then use those skills to sew straight seams and create fun fabric bookmarks to take home.

The registration fee includes all project materials, as well as use of a sewing machine during class.

Ages:  Youth 8+.  Skill Level:  Beginner  Seats available:  6.  Cost:  $25.  Instructor:  Krista Smith.

Mini Americana Flag:  Beginner Youth Sewing Summer Workshop

Date:  Tuesday, June 9th.  Time:  9:30 am - 12:00 pm.   Location:  Alyssum Patch Quilt Shop.  213 E. Grand River Ave.  Howell, MI. 48843.

Celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with stitches, creativity, and patriotic fun! This beginner-friendly youth sewing workshop is the perfect introduction to both machine and hand sewing.

Students will learn sewing machine basics, including how the machine works, how to thread it, wind and insert a bobbin, and sew safely and confidently. We’ll begin by practicing on paper to build skills and confidence before moving on to sewing festive Mini Americana Flags. Students will also learn simple hand-stitching techniques while embellishing their flags with charming button accents.

The registration fee includes all project materials, as well as use of a sewing machine during class.

Youth Sewing Workshop - Beyond Beginner

Date:  Saturday, June 13th.  Time:  10:00 am - 12:00 pm.   Location:  Alyssum Patch Quilt Shop.  213 E. Grand River Ave.  Howell, MI. 48843.

This class is for students that have completed the Youth Beginner Sewing Workshop.  In this next steps class, we’ll create a stylish and functional Magotes Tote by Latifah Saafir.   Students will learn techniques including reading a pattern, fabric prep, accurate cutting, assembling pieces, along with tips for achieving a clean, professional result.  By the end of class, you’ll have a beautiful tote perfect for everyday use.

Supplies and sewing machine for class use are included with registration.
