Get ready for spooky season with a handmade hat that's sure to cast a spell! In this fun and festive workshop, you'll create your own quilted witch hat using the Spellbound Quilted Witch Hat pattern by Melissa Mortenson.
This wearable, lined hat features a classic witchy silhouette and can be customized with your favorite fabrics to match your personal style. The Spellbound pattern creates a fully lined, wearable witch hat with an optional sash and is designed for advanced beginners to intermediate sewists.
Students should be comfortable using a sewing machine and sewing accurate seams. You'll leave class with a one-of-a-kind accessory ready for Howell's annual Witches Night Out, Halloween celebrations, fall festivals, or simply embracing your inner quilt witch.
Join us for an evening of stitching, creativity, and a little bit of magic!

Machine Embroidery - Rope Bowls
Dates: Saturdays, September 12th, 19th & 26th. Time: 10:00 - 11:30 am. Location: Alyssum Patch Quilt Shop.

Create the adorable Kimberbell Happy Place Rope Bowls in this 3-session machine embroidery class! Students will stitch out the decorative base using their embroidery machine and learn techniques for adding, coiling, and shaping rope to create a decorative bowl perfect for their sewing space.
This class is designed for students who own and have a basic understanding of their embroidery machine, including threading, hooping, and loading designs.

Would you like to learn how to sew, but don’t know where to start? This is the class for you! We will explore the ins and outs of a sewing machine: its functions and features, winding and loading a bobbin, threading the machine, replacing a needle, changing the presser foot, care and maintenance, and how to operate safely. We’ll then put our skills into practice by learning how to sew straight seams with scrap fabric. By the end of this workshop you'll be ready to join one of our beginner sewing project classes.

Join us this fall for our After School Sewing Series! Designed for young makers ages 10+ - these fun and creative sessions offer projects for both beginner and intermediate sewers. Choose from four different project sessions, each featuring three weekly classes where students will build skills while creating something they'll be proud to take home.
Session 1: Intro to Sewing - for beginner stitchers. CLASS FULL
Dates: Wednesdays: September 16, 23, 30. Time: 3:30 - 5 pm. Cost: $65. Seats available: 4
Intro to Sewing is perfect for brand new and beginning stitchers! In this class we will learn how to operate a sewing machine as well as the basics of sewing small projects by hand.Projects will include making a fabric bookmark, a felt monster plushie, and a drawstring backpack.

Learn foundation paper piecing while creating a Hummingbird block designed by Liza Taylor Handmade
This class is perfect for anyone curious about foundation paper piecing but not sure where to start, as well as those who have tried it before and would like more practice. We’ll cover the fundamentals and share tips and techniques to make FPP more approachable, accurate, and enjoyable.

Join us as we create the beautiful Goodnight Irene quilt top from Missouri Star! This beginner-friendly quilt combines simple piecing techniques to create a stunning design that can be seen as either bold X's or charming checkerboards with pointed accents.
Throughout the workshop, you'll learn how to construct easy 16-patch blocks and assemble the striking X-blocks that give this quilt its unique look. Along the way, we'll cover essential quilting skills including accurate cutting, piecing, pressing, and block assembly.
With its repeating blocks and straightforward construction, Goodnight Irene is an excellent project for newer quilters looking to build confidence while creating a quilt they'll be proud to display, gift, or snuggle under for years to come.

This beginner-friendly project is a great introduction to working with zippers, quilting, and bag construction techniques. Session 2: Sewing 102 - for confident beginners/intermediate stitchers

Sewing 102 is just right for students with some prior sewing experience, from confident beginners to intermediate stitchers. We create both machine and hand sewn projects including the Quilt Cadet's Magotes Totes bag and an embroidery sampler.
