Sewing 101: Intro to a Sewing Machine
Date: Tuesday, April 7th. Time: 6:00-7:00 pm. Location: Alyssum Patch Quilt Shop. 213 E. Grand River Ave. Howell, MI. 48843.

Want to learn how to sew but not sure where to start? This hands-on class introduces you to the basics of operating a sewing machine — from threading and bobbins to needles, presser feet, and safe operation. You’ll practice sewing straight seams and gain the confidence to move on to beginner project classes.
Ages: 16+ Skill Level: Beginner Seats: 6 Materials: Provided (machines available for use). Cost: $20

Beginner Youth Sewing Workshop
Date: Thursday, April 9th. Time: 5:30-7:00 pm. Location: Alyssum Patch Quilt Shop. 213 E. Grand River Ave. Howell, MI. 48843.

This class is perfect for true beginners! Students will learn the basics of the sewing machine, including how it works, how to thread it, wind and insert a bobbin, and sew safely. We’ll start by practicing on paper to build confidence, then use those skills to sew straight seams and create fun fabric bookmarks to take home.
The registration fee includes all project materials, as well as use of a sewing machine during class.

Project Bag 2.0 Sewing Workshop
Dates: Saturdays, April 11, 18, 25. Time: 10:00-11:30 am. Location: Alyssum Patch Quilt Shop. 213 E. Grand River Ave. Howell, MI. 48843.

In this class, you’ll sew a versatile zippered bag featuring a clear vinyl front—perfect for storing projects, tools, or travel essentials while keeping everything visible and easy to access. Students may choose which size bag to make, allowing you to customize the project to suit your needs.
This class is a great opportunity to build confidence with several popular ByAnnie techniques, including working with vinyl, installing zippers, and achieving a clean, professional finish. Whether you’re sewing for yourself or creating a thoughtful handmade gift, Project Bag 2.0 is a practical project you’ll use again and again.

English Paper Piecing Workshop

Machine Embroidery Workshop

This class is designed for students who own and have a basic understanding of their embroidery machine, including threading, hooping, and loading designs.
Ages: Adult 16+. Skill Level: Prior Experience with Machine Embroidery Seats available: 6. Instructor: Debie Brown
Beginner Sewing Workshop: Reversible Eco Sac
Date: Saturday, May 16th. Time: 9:30-11:30 am. Location: Alyssum Patch Quilt Shop. 213 E. Grand River Ave. Howell, MI. 48843.

Learn the basics of sewing while making the Reversible Eco Sac designed by Sue Spargo! This beginner-friendly workshop is perfect for anyone new to sewing or anyone who would like a refresher on the fundamentals.
Students will learn how to read a pattern, prepare and cut fabric, and sew simple seams while creating a sturdy, reversible tote bag. Along the way, we’ll cover helpful tips for accurate cutting, pressing, and assembling your project with confidence.
By the end of class, you’ll have a beautiful, useful bag and the skills to start your next sewing project. No prior sewing experience required.
