Summer Sewing & Craft Classes
We are excited to have local fiber artist, Krista Smith, joining us as an Instructor this Summer. Krista will be offering a variety of one-day workshops that are sure to be a hit with youth and adults. Registration is now open - grab your seat today!
Drop Spindle Basics. Fiber Arts Workshop. Cost: $45.

Ages: Adult/Older Youth (12+). Skill Level: This is a Beginner-friendly class. Seats available: 8.
This class will teach the basics of turning wool into yarn using a drop spindle. Students will create several yards of plied yarn, and will leave with their own wooden spindle to keep. Brand new beginners and those with some experience are all welcome. Already have a spindle? Feel free to bring your own.

Make A Monster. Hand Sewing for Kids Workshop. Cost $20.

Students will learn the basics of sewing by hand while they create a mini stuffed monster pal using felt and buttons

Little Stitches. Hand Sewing for Parent & Child Workshop. Cost $20.
Date: Monday, June 16th. Time: 10:00-11:00 am. Location: Alyssum Patch Contemporary Quilt Shop. 213 E. Grand River Ave. Howell, MI. 48843.
This is a parent/child class that introduces the basics of hand sewing to young artists. Children will be using a plastic needle with an open-weave fabric.
Ages: Youth 4-9, with a parent/caregiver. Experience Level: This is a Beginner-friendly class. Seats available: 8.

Round Weaving for Kids. Fiber Arts Workshop. Cost $30.
Date: Friday, July 11th. Time: 5:00-7:00 pm. Location: Alyssum Patch Contemporary Quilt Shop. 213 E. Grand River Ave. Howell, MI. 48843.
Weaving in the round is simple enough for an absolute beginner and an enjoyable project for experienced weavers as well. Students will use a variety of fibers to create a woven piece of art that is mounted on a wooden embroidery hoop, ready to put on display.

Instructor Bio - Krista Smith
Krista learned to sew when she was 8 years old; her grandmother bought her a sewing kit, and she was instantly hooked! Her love for creative arts has grown to include weaving, spinning, and dyeing fibers, and she loves sharing her passion for the arts with others. She has a background in youth programming and has been teaching a variety of fiber arts classes for the past few years.
